egg

It looks like we’re getting rid of a chicken tomorrow. Cheese has been a bit aggressive towards the other girls and it’s time for her to go. She’s going to a good home where she more likely will get to roam the streets at night and lay her eggs under parked cars.

We’re planting a few strawberry plants in pots to ‘over winter’ them in the garage. Hopefully, there will be a lot of yummy strawberries growing on them in the spring.

Setup the front framework for the new chicken pen today. The new pen will be 8’x12′ and have it’s own water supply. A nesting house will sit inside this pen for them to feel better protected when they’re laying eggs for us.

Soon I’ll post a timelapse video showing all the progress so far.

The eggplants seem to be slowing down a bit. It may be the heat that’s finally getting to them. The okra handles this Texas heat wave beautifully.

A wide variety of bugs have been hard at work on the Round Rock Funny Farm. There are numerous types of dragonflies in our gardens. They are flying in with many different colors. I think they’re happily eating any mosquitoes or flies they can find.

Well it’s hot again. Back to the big, bright, sunny Texas sky. But what exactly is holding the magnifying glass over us?

Rusty was showing off so here’s a few pictures of him too.

We let the chickens run around the farm today. I’m building a more permanent pen and we needed to move their current one for construction room. The holes are dug and the upright poles go in this week. It will be a much larger space with a walk-in door. Should make it a lot easier to maintain them. There will also be a float-level watering system to make sure they always have fresh clean water with less work from us.
