Setup the front framework for the new chicken pen today. The new pen will be 8’x12′ and have it’s own water supply. A nesting house will sit inside this pen for them to feel better protected when they’re laying eggs for us.

Soon I’ll post a timelapse video showing all the progress so far.

Trying to get a better timing system going with the new drip system. Seems that we actually need to run the drips in the mid to late afternoons in order to combat this Texas heat. It’s already conserving water as there is no more water run off.

The melon seedlings were planted today. We’ve got seedlings for pumpkins, honeydew and butternut squash planted. There are more smaller seedlings that will be ready to go in the ground in a week or so. Then we sit back and wait a month before starting the fall garden. It’s nice living in central Texas with such a long growing season. Wish we could have some rain…

A new patch has been prepped and it’s ready for planting. Seedlings will be in within a few days.

A new okra flower. We’re letting a few okra go to seed for next year.
The new patch. Too late for sweet corn? We could use some rain!
Our bell peppers are really doing well in the shade of the tomatoes.
The fig trees leaves have grown back just fine after a small bout with a rust fungus.

Back on track getting the daily pics and nearly caught up with the daily pictures. It was overcast all day so the 2 pictures look nearly the same. We’re still waiting on some rain here in TX.

Missed the afternoon picture today. 😦 Take a look at this neat HDR photo I’m working on. It was taken at the Wood Haven Cabins with 5 exposures.

The layout is changing on the Round Rock Funny Farm blog. It will have a much better way of displaying pictures of the goings on. There will be some quick entries following to make up for lost days, we had a busy weekend! The afternoon picture was missed due to a weekend road trip to Edom, TX.
